A public interest group has written to the Justice Department seeking a criminal investigation into Ben Carson’s claim that Donald Trump illegally offered him a job in his administration in exchange for his endorsement.

In a letter to the Department of Justice Criminal Division, the American Democracy Legal Fund (ADLF) asked for an investigation into Trump:

Former presidential candidate Dr. Carson endorsed Mr. Trump for the Republican presidential nomination on March 11, 2016. Mr. Trump and Dr. Carson met the day before to discuss and finalize the endorsement. Three days later, on March 14, Dr. Carson gave an interview to Newsmax TV to discuss his recent endorsement of Mr. Trump. During the interview, Dr. Carson stated that he believed Mr. Trump would “surround himself with very good people.” When asked if he would be one of those people, Dr. Carson responded, “I will be doing things as well.” When the interviewer asked whether that meant in a Trump administration, Dr. Carson replied, “Certainly in an advisory capacity.” The interviewer then asked Dr. Carson if “that’s been determined” and followed by asking, “When you sat down with [Mr. Trump] that was discussed?” Dr. Carson openly admitted, “Yes,” and said that while they “hadn’t hammered out all the details,” “it is very important that we work together.” When asked if this meant a cabinet position, Dr. Carson declined to “reveal any details about it right now, because all of this is still very liquid.”

Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 599, “[w]hoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

Dr. Carson’s comments strongly suggest that Mr. Trump promised him an administration position in return for his endorsement. In his interview, Dr. Carson stated that he would “certainly” have an advisory capacity within a potential Trump administration. When asked directly whether this role was discussed during their endorsement meeting, Dr. Carson responded, “Yes.” Dr. Carson’s assured answers lead to the reasonable conclusion that Mr. Trump promised Dr. Carson an administration post in order to secure his endorsement in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 599.

Federal law prohibits a candidate from directly or indirectly promising the appointment of any person to any public or private position in exchange for his or her support. Dr. Carson’s comments indicate that Mr. Trump used the promise of a role in his administration to secure Dr. Carson’s support for his presidential campaign. For the above stated reasons, we respectfully request that you undertake an immediate investigation of this matter.

They all scratch each other's backs. That's how Hillary and Kerry got their positions, among lots of others. If it is wrong, then there's a long list of people that need to be called on the carpet.

When you look at how each party is manipulating the election and the delegates, and the amount of money being spent, especially the GOP, it becomes very clear that the people need to stop their power grab. We're close to losing the ability to even fight back if it isn't too late already. This is one area we need unite and not let Washington DC divide us.

Donald Trump according to polls has a following of American citizens who are fed up to the gills with the Establishment's control of our election process. I believe it is both Republican and Democrats who over the years have built lucrative positions for themselves.

In my Opinion not only the Federal Government is corrupt but State and Local also, all have taken over the government of the people while the people have slept but some are now waking up and a sleeping giant is stirring in America.

I agree. The people are “priced” out of politics. A great example is what is currently going on in this election cycle. The vote by the people means very little.

The insurgency, led by Donald Trump, is an existential threat to the professional political class and every entity who lives in/around the professional political class. The entire political industry is threatened by the insurgency. The entire political industry is threatened by Donald Trump.

Now you know why the entire Republican apparatus is united with Ted Cruz. Now you know why the entire Wall Street apparatus is united with Ted Cruz. Now you know why every institutional department, every lobbyist, every K-Street dweller, every career legislative member, staffer, and the various downstream economic benefactors, including the corporate media, all of it – all the above, united against Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is an existential threat to the very existence of the Republican Party, such as it is!!

Mocking and belittling women, American Muslims, Latinos and the disabled doesn't make you "politically incorrect."

    It makes you an A**Hole.

Trump didn't belittle women; he called out a "show host" that attacked him. Plenty or women has said more about him than he has about others.

American Muslims: Wrong again, he said we need to stop allowing Muslims especially Syrians into America unti we figure this out.

Latinos: Wrong again, he said too many people from Mexicocoming here illegally are criminals and we need secure borders.

The libs crack me up: Mexico built a wall with Guatemala and it's okay with them but if the USA wants to do the same it's all the sudden racist. Oh yeah, the "Greatest President Ever Mr. Obama gave Yemen a TON of OUR CASH to build a wall.

Trump is popular because he is indeed right about many things and the facts bear this out.

Nice try quietwolf, gotta' give you that.

Here's yet another one of your "deal maker's" (Trump the Dump) failed business deals in 2009:

"A reported 20,000 independent sales representatives bought the Trump Network products and tried to recruit others to sell them too. But within two and a half years, the "recession-proof" business collapsed.

"Eileen said they lost $10,000." CBS News Report

Well the article actually states, “The public tends to focus on the total national debt, which just passed the $17 trillion mark—up from $10.6 trillion when President Obama took office.
To be specific the national debt liability, per person, since Obama has taken office is $350,000 per person. That account for the Obama’s budgets increased to the national debt by. The increase in national debt liability under George W, per person, was $228,310.
However, a pound bacon in 2008 was $2.96. Now that same pound of bacon is $5.24.
That is if you want to chew the fat. But I assume you knew that.

The basic case for nominating Ted Cruz rather than Donald Trump is that, while Cruz would arguably be the most right-wing nominee in modern American history, and would probably lose to Hillary Clinton, he would not unleash the sort of blood-dimmed tide of down-ticket destruction that Trump would.

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll lends some support to this view: It finds that Trump’s numbers are unspeakably awful among all the voter groups that Republican strategists had hoped to improve the party’s performance among in 2016.

On the other hand, Cruz’s numbers aren’t that great among these groups either — they are certainly worse than John Kasich’s are.

    Marvel at these findings:

Trump is viewed unfavorably by 67 percent of Americans overall

Viewed unfavorably by 75 percent of women

Viewed unfavorably by 74 percent of young voters

Viewed unfavorably by; 91 percent of African Americans

Viewed unfavorably by 81 percent of Latinos

Viewed unfavorably by 73 percent of college-educated whites

Viewed unfavorably by 66 percent of white women

And viewed unfavorably by 72 percent of moderates.

Don't vote for hate anymore, vote All-American. Vote Democratic.

Donald Trump the Dump really does say what is on his mind--ain't much, but he does say it---and in a speech in New York, trying to make sick political gain from the 9-11 tragedy, he says he wants to honor those of 7-11. This was what really was on his teeny mind, not 9-11. Large soda? This Racist/Fascist clown Trump could care less about common folks that were killed during the 9-11 tragedy.

And a reminder for those of you who think Trump is somehow, someway, some kind of image of success (daddy's money), here is a short-list reminder:

    Trump alert:

    1) His companies have filed for bankruptcies 4 times

    2) Fired from his own show Apprentice

    3) His first wife, first of 4 immigrant wives, accuses him of being a rapist

    4) Dozens of retailers have dropped his clothing line

5 Sued for fraud for Trump University scandal

    6) Trump casinos and Trump Airlines failed.

Trump is a two-bit con man. Like another Republican has stated, if it were not for daddy's money and connections, Trump would be selling watches in N.Y. from an alley.

Vote Blue, Vote Democratic, Vote for the Working Person, Vote for All-Americans. We don't need more hate and bigotry in this country.

We the people are behind this great movement to remove the Entrenched establishment from the places in Government we set aside for those WE elected and who took and promised to follow our Constitution by the Oath of Office they swear to uphold before taking office.

These people who have went away from the peoples will and now do for themselves must be removed by the people.

That's quite an amazing comment IMO.

    Bashing Trump while supporting Hillary?

Blood on her hands from Benghazi?

Claimed a video caused the preplanned Banghazi attack?

    Whitewater?

Made deals with foriegn countries to fund the Clinton Foundation?

Stole over $200,000 in furniture from the White House (with Bill) and was forced to return it?

Wants to expand Obamacare which has proven to be a colossal failure. She tried this under Bill's adminstration and was rejected.

Is against the 2nd Amendment and wants more gun control?

Claimed to land "under fire" overseas when video proof shows an outright lie?

Says nothing about illegal immigration and secure borders?

Was fired years ago for lying (track record, eh?)

Takes big, big bucks from Wall Street while claiming to be against these large corporations and campaign donors.

Oh yeah, there's that nasty email thing that others have been reprimanded or fired over - and she's under investigation by the FBI. Others in the email case have been given immunity which shows impropriety at the very least.

    And that's just for starters.......

    My problems with Hillary are:

    She's a proven liar;

    Blood on her hands from Benghazi;

    is for more government control;

does nothing about ending illegal immigration.

She's greasy and is definitely not a leader. She will have big political favors to pay back if elected - which means more greasy leadership in Washington DC.

If she gets indicted by the FBI she'll go nowhere in the general election.

I'm surprised at you, quietwolf. You seem to be an intelligent and respectful person. I can't for the life of me undestand how you could support Hillary.

BTW - some polls' like Rassmussen yesterday, show Trump ahead of Hillary for the general election.

Cruz has dropped out of the Republican race after Trump has 53+ points! Trump was pushed along by the people who have had enough of the establishment ignoring our constitution, justice , freedom from excessive taxes, corruption abounding, elected and appointed county, state and federal doing what is best for them instead of the PEOPLE.

It is going to be interesting as the election goes forward.
The part I really found interesting especially yesterday was the mainstream media and pundits saying how Trump can't win, can't beat Hillary, etc as they have from the beginning. He's now the nominee. It is obvious the "establishment" of both parties are deathly afraid of Trump messing up the gravy train and the Washington DC power structure.
This is my opinion or thoughts on a Trump administration: When it comes to foreign policy and other areas of government, Trump will be able to bring in the right person because he won't owe due to big campaign contributions and political favors.
This is the very same thing that scares me about Hillary. She will owe a lot of favors (as most politicians, this isn't unique to her) and she has a track record of being dishonest. Her shady dealings time and time again make it clear she's out for one person - Hillary. She will sell out anyone and everyone for her own gain (research Clinton Foundation and uranium sales). She's also on the hotseat with the email scandal. http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/breaking-fbi-is-ready-to-indict-hillary-rodham-clinton/

All in all the rest of the campaign to the Presidential Election is going to be quite a ride, especially with the media trying to tell us what to think.
Fasten your belts folks, there's turbulence ahead. Hope we're all friends when the dust settles.

The voters of Indiana like the voters across the land have shown the Establishment their days are numbered, the people have felt betrayed by the establishment and faith in the Trump movement. Trump saw the people were fed up with the way the Establishment ran this country and wanted a change and rode the anger of the USA people against the Big Government and established lobbyist pushing their bosses wills with funding for favored " we can , you can not" treatment. The establishment change occurred over a period of time while the peoples lives got worse. The change was from the top down this time according to an official and took over our government with no vote of the people such as took the levee responsibility of repair, replace and remove the state from responsibility for levee breaks, in an agreement that had no vote of we the people, the officials went against the vote of the people and stood behind a developer for a Wheatland project, permitted the TRLIA to operate in 2004,2005, 2006 without auditing the Millions of Developer funds incoming and State taxes, created false claims of levee work done and sent requests to the State DWR for reimbursement of "local" funds spent, still with no auditing of these funds. Yes there is turbulence ahead and fortunately, the people are waking up.
